One he problem I met when trying to install FreeBSD (7.2-RC) was quite frustrating.

You created a disk (dvd or cd, whatever), tried on several machines and checked that there was no problem reading it with os installed.

When  I tried to install FreeBSD with cd-rom, it WAS saying "Boot from CD / DVD:". Two minutes later, however, it was still saying "Boot from CD / DVD:" and after a while, it was booted from the hard disk. I tried several times, no difference.

I googled and found a solution. The trick here is bootonly.iso.

Solution

In the download page, in my case, there is an option to download bootonly.iso, followed by disk1.iso, disk2.iso, etc.

You can download the bootonly.iso. It maybe contains more booting drivers. When you get to sysinstall page, replace the bootonly disk with disk 1 and set the normal installation.

Hope it can solve your problem.
